Iran travel, questions answered

Honest, practical answers to the things travellers ask us most before visiting Iran.

Do I need a visa to visit Iran?+
Most nationalities need a visa, and many are eligible for a visa on arrival or an e-visa in advance. As part of our service we provide your visa authorisation (grant) code and guide you through every step. Requirements vary by nationality — send us your passport country and we'll advise exactly what you need.
Is it safe to travel to Iran?+
Iran is generally very safe for tourists, with famously warm hospitality and low rates of petty crime against travellers. We monitor conditions continuously, use trusted local guides and drivers, and provide 24/7 support throughout your trip. We also recommend checking your own government's current travel advice before booking.
When is the best time to visit Iran?+
Spring (mid-March–May) and autumn (late September–November) are ideal across most of the country. Summers are hot on the central plateau but lovely in the mountains and the green north, while winter suits the southern islands and quieter city sightseeing. See our travel guide for seasonal tips.
Can I use my credit or debit card in Iran?+
International Visa and Mastercard don't currently work in Iran, so visitors bring cash (euros or US dollars) and exchange locally. To make spending easy and secure, we can arrange a prepaid local tourist debit card you top up with your own funds and use like a normal card during your trip.
What should I wear in Iran?+
Iran has a modest dress code. Women cover their hair loosely with a headscarf and wear clothing that covers the arms and legs; men avoid shorts in most settings. It's simpler than many imagine — your guide will help you feel comfortable and respectful everywhere.
Is Iran a good destination for women travellers?+
Absolutely. Many women, including solo travellers, visit Iran and find it welcoming, with locals going out of their way to help. Travelling with a trusted operator like Arian Tour adds extra comfort, local knowledge and round-the-clock support.
Will I have internet and can I use messaging apps?+
Mobile data and Wi-Fi are widely available, and a local SIM is inexpensive and easy to arrange on arrival. Some apps may need a VPN, which many travellers install before they come. Our team and your guide stay reachable throughout your trip.
How do I book a tour with Arian Tour?+
Just send us an enquiry with your dates, group size and interests. We'll reply with a tailor-made itinerary and a clear quote, refine it together until it's perfect, then handle all the bookings. It's free and there's no obligation.
